What is your Burning Desire — Golden Key or Red Herring?

What is your Burning Desire?                                                                     Acres of Diamonds… you’ve read the famous story, or at least had it related to you.

A farmer hears tales of diamonds and begins dreaming of vast riches.
He sells his farm and hikes off over the horizon, never to be heard from again.
Rumors say that years later he died destitute,
never having found the diamonds he spent his life seeking.

Meanwhile, the man who bought that farm found a large and “interesting looking” stone in a stream that ran through the property.
He put the stone on his mantle where a visitor recognized the large stone as a rough diamond.

It turned out to be the Hope Diamond, the largest such stone ever found.
That stream bed was littered with diamonds,
and the new owner became fabulously wealthy.
No doubt he also lived happily ever after.

But doesn’t something in that story set strangely with you?

What about the guy with the burning desire and the grand vision?
He ended up disappointed and broke, dying far from his family and friends.
Not a happy ending.

Meanwhile, the guy who just wanted to do some farming got all the riches.
Make no mistake, the new owner already had money,
or he could not have bought the land.

There’s nothing in this story to make us think he was dreaming about riches,
vast or otherwise.
No burning desire.
But he got the goodies.

Was this just another little prank, courtesy of a mischievous Universe?

Or is it possible to get good things coming your way with only mild desire
— maybe even a calm indifference?

Many inspirational writers, including Napoleon Hill,
have assured us that a burning desire is one of the prerequisites of acquiring a fortune.

What is your Burning Desire?
I’ve even said it myself, although I added the qualifier that the powerful desire is not so much for the Universe.
It’s for you, to help you overcome and battle past your own doubts and resistances.

But haven’t you seen people who seem to coast into good things,
like the farmer who found the Hope Diamond?

I’ve known people like that.

In fact, after I’d been in Singapore for a while and had set up a “channel” for business to flow through, I could just think about receiving more money, and I’d get an immediate surge of business within hours.

This pattern went on for 2 or 3 years, till I shut down my writing and editing business. So it wasn’t an occasional fluke.

Now, I must admit I had a burning determination to stay in Singapore, and for the first year or two I never knew if things would work out for me or not.

Then, things started shifting my way, and they stayed that way. Why?

Truthfully, I don’t think the deciding factor was the desire.

Lots of people come here to Singapore, but never quite find out how to stay.

Many, many foreigners who come here end up losing their toehold and slinking back home.

On the other hand, the ones who do stay are often not especially hard working, dedicated, sensible or qualified.
More than one long-time English teacher or copywriter remains here because they enjoy the hard drinking culture, the many women who like foreigners, or the feel of being a round peg in a square hole.

Achieving their dream doesn’t appear to have a lot to do with burning desire.

Instead, it seems to be more a matter of what they can allow themselves to have.

What is your Burning Desire?

Some people call this a sense of deserving.
Others call it a sense of entitlement.
No matter what term you use, it’s basically the same thing.
Either way, it’s governed by who you think you are and what circumstances you accept as appropriate for you.

In other words, it all starts from who you are in your own mind.

So What is your Burning Desire?

Are we our own prisoners? Best Inspiration

Michelle Here 🙂

Well, today I have something that keeps me thinking.

Am I a prisoner of my own.

What do I mean? Lets say…..

Imagine a person in a prison.

He/she has been imprisoned for life and will wait till death in the prison.

What can possibly motivate such a person?

What do these people look forward to in their lives?

Sometimes, we are also prisoners of our thoughts and our past deeds.

We also have nothing else to look forward to.

We only have regrets.

At least, we can do something about the conditions,

but the prisoners can do nothing.

Life can be depressing at times.

How to inspire ourselves in such conditions?

What is inspiration?

‘Inspiration’ the word as it is commonly understood means to

experience a state of mind that propels us to work happily,

try to achieve goals, and feel good about ourselves and the world.

So …

How to break open the prison?

When we are not inspired and can set no goals,

we feel that we are so helpless that nothing can be done.

The first step would be to try finding stories of people such as

Helen Keller who overcame so many difficulties to emerge victorious.

That will give us a basic thought that things are not that bad.

We will open at least one door of our prison with this thought.

Then go back in your memory.

Try and think of instances when you felt good because of some achievements.

It could be something very small.

Anything.

Like coming first in the class in your second year in school,

or getting a good remark from a teacher for an essay or for a math answer.

That will break open another door.

Now begin counting your blessings.

Do you have a functioning kidney?

Can you see?

Can you hear?

Can you smell?

Are your hands ok and so on.

Will you sell your eyes for any price?

No!

Who said that you have no money?

You are a wealthy person who is unaware of your wealth, your blessings,

Isn’t it?

This will open one more door.

Break the last door open by thinking of the goals you might want to achieve.

Believe that you can do that.

Start planning.

Think of ways.

Talk to people.

Be ready for a long struggle but with a firm resolve that you will achieve the goals.

This will take you out of the prison of your thinking and make you a new person ready to fight.

Get set to go ahead. You are a winner in making! Best Inspiration

5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit

Are you having stress? Feeling lost? Feeling Anxiety?                                 What to do?                                                                                                   Here are 5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit.

Luckily for me there’s always been that curiosity
of what’s out there in the alternative world
including the alternative therapies.
I’ve tried many of them over the years and will continue to
do so, all in the hope I can make things better
for my body, mind and spirit.
And it has.
I’m aware that what may work for me may not work
for someone else, so the message is to keep trying
until you find something that will suit your
needs.

Many times I’ve been told they’ve tried
everything.
What is everything?
What it actually boiled down to you could count on one hand.
It’s worthwhile to keep searching, you may find that
your world expands in a most amazing way by the
making of new friendships (I have) and picking up
useful skills for your ‘self-healing’ tool-kit.

So what do I do when I’ve reached a cross-road and
need some direction or could do with some healing?

5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit
Below I’ve listed 5 basic points that have helped
to lift my spirit and with practice will also help
yours:

1.            Meditation!  Meditation is one of the greatest
self healing tools available and costs nothing
except a little of your time!  There are many
meditation techniques out there, find one that
suits you and begin.

By putting some meditation music on and spending
time in quiet contemplation it can soothe your
soul and reconnect you with the highest aspect of
yourself.

2.            Aromatherapy and Essential Oils.

Rebalance and rejuvenate your spirit through
blending a selection of essential oils together in
an aromatherapy oil burner.  I’ve found the
following blend works extremely well when there’s
a need for nurturing, support and healing:

Approximately an hour before retiring to bed place
a few drops of the following in an aromatherapy
oil burner with some water (for safety’s sake,
extinguish the flame before lights are turned off
for the night):

4 drops Jasmine

4 drops Rose

4 drops Neroli

3 drops Lavender

3 drops Bergamot

The smell divine!  I use this one every now and
again and not only sleep like a baby but anxiety
and stress disappears, and feels like the weight
of the world has lifted from my shoulders by the
following morning!  (If you have a small bedroom
you might like to half the amount of drops)

3.            Breathe!  Stand with feet a shoulder-length
apart.  Take 3 slow and deep breaths using the
diaphragm muscles.  Breathe in through the nose,
and breathe out through slightly parted lips.  As
you do these imagine you’re inhaling your personal
power, filling every cell in your body, from your
diaphragm up to the top of your head.

Be your personal power and notice how much taller,
straighter and stronger you become.  Repeat the
steps above.

4.            Be in the Present Moment.  Take a few deep
breaths and focus totally on this moment, right
now.

If you’re reading a book or magazine, or even this
article, totally focus on the words and take in
their meaning.  There is only you and this article
now in the present moment.

If you’re in the workplace, focus totally on the
task at hand, and only this task, and what you
must do in order to complete it.  Nothing else
matters except you and the task at hand.

5.            Set an intention.  When I’m on the lookout for
something new and useful for me, I set my
intention on what it is I’m after.

For example, I may want to find a book that will
give me answers in regards to directing me to
another healing modality or skill.  I then
meditate on this intention, give it a timeframe
then open my heart to it.  Lo and behold I will
have a book in my hand in no time at all!  I love
the power of intention – I also use intention for
getting a parking space when I go shopping!

These days I rarely get sick and when I do and
have a medical checkup, doctors tell me I’m
actually very healthy (surely they can find
something so I can get some sympathy around here!)
which also includes blood test results.

I still do sadness and unhappiness well (I’m still
human) though neither lasts long whereas in the
past it would last many days sometimes weeks.
What lasts much longer is a peaceful state.

When using the 5 points above, my spirit lifts and
life once again becomes more peaceful and joyful.

I hope you enjoy this 5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit.
